A Message from DNR about Sunday Hunting in Garrett, Allegany, Washington and Frederick Counties Dear hunting license holder: We are writing to advise you of a delay in changes to Sunday hunting in Garrett, Allegany, Washington and Frederick Counties, which were adopted by the Maryland General Assembly during the 2014 session, as part of local bills SB472 and SB473.
While DNR submitted emergency regulations toimplement the two bills before the hunting season began on September 5, a hearing on the emergency regulations has been requested.  As a result, DNR is unable to adopt the regulations as proposed and has submitted the regulations through the regular process. These new regulations MAY NOT BECOME EFFECTIVE BEFORE DECEMBER 22, 2014. Please make a note of this important change, as the 2014-2015 Guide to Hunting and Trapping printed earlier in the year, includes an effective date of September 5.  As it now stands, the following current regulations will remain in place until new final regulations are adopted  2) An individual may hunt on Sunday, if the individual is (d) Hunting white-tailed or sika deer on private property (ii) On the last three Sundays in October [October 12, 19 and 26, 2014] and the first two Sundays in November [November 2 and 9, 2014] during the deer bow season and the first Sunday of the deer firearms season [November 30, 2014] in Allegany, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Talbot, Washington, and Wicomico counties; (v) 16 years of age or younger when participating in the Junior Deer Hunt [November 16, 2014] on private lands only in Anne Arundel, Allegany, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, and Worcester counties; The full text of the current regulations is located at: http://www.dsd.state.md.us/comar/getfile.aspx?file=
